Starting with young horses

Veröffentlichungsdatum: 03.02.2023

The age where horses are brought in to start their sporting career is around age 3, shortly before they turn 4. After this you start with social skills, make them comfortable around you, introduce new stuff to them, always keep it slow and with a positive state of mind. Young horses are like a lottery, you never know what you get. For sure some of them will need more time than the others. It’s only important to not push them and give them time to develop how they are supposed to.

After your horse is comfortable with a rider and has successfully learned stop, go, left and right you can start building them up with simple dressage. Making first jumps really depends on your feeling as a rider but like everything else also this needs time and patience.

Then when you reach your first goal, you set a new one and this is to bring your horse to the first show. Our way to do this is simply riding horses every day and practicing one thing a hundred times, so long that we are satisfied. After being comfortable jumping the whole course at home you can take your horse somewhere else to train, new environment, new experience.

It’s just important to be patient and to take all the time they need.
